Dragons’ Den – A not so ferocious Dragon!
Dragons’ Den, the popular BBC series has returned to two Bognor Regis Schools, with our very own Rita in the role of entrepreneur Deborah Meaden. Two teams of children, one from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School and one from Downview Primary School will compete in the this year’s competition. The teams, comprising 6 children currently in year 5 have been tasked with designing and making an educational toy for infant children. The two teams will have to take their products to the Dragons’ Den and make their pitch to local business people.
The children’s efforts will be judged by the Dragons. Each team will be awarded points for: –
Market Research and Unique Selling Point
Design and Prototype of the toy
Radio Advert Quality
Presentation in the Boardroom
With the support of Spirit FM each team will be given the opportunity of making a Radio Advert for their product, using the professional facilities available at the Radio Station’s studio.
At the conclusion of the competition there will be an Awards evening that the children can share with their families.
While promising not to be quite as harsh as her television counterpart, Rita is taking the competition seriously. In an increasingly competitive world she believes that it is important that children get the opportunity to see how business really works at an early stage.
“I am impressed by how creative children can be. I think that we sometimes underestimate their capabilities. No doubt both of the teams in this year’s competition will come up with impressive ideas and will present the Dragons with some really difficult choices. Entering the Dragons’ Den for the Presentation stage of the competition will no doubt be very daunting – and that is just for the Dragons!”
Rita’s involvement is part of Rita Sen Solicitors Community Support Project. As local Solicitors we expect to play our full part in the local Community. In supporting the local community, the one expression that you will not hear from Rita is, “I’m out!”
